Why should I trust you in my house?

Our primary home security employee is a mature, responsible and reliable individual. He has a spotless police record and a recent police criminal record check can be provided upon request. JB Security Services is a trade name of 724683 Alberta Ltd. and is fully insured, bonded and licensed.  Mr. Bentz has also completed the Alberta Basic Security Training course and has a Security Services Professional license from Alberta Justice and Solicitor General, a requirement under the Security Services and Investigators Act.  The company also has an active WCB account and has a business license from the City of Edmonton.  Supporting documents are available upon request.  

Why would I use your services when I might be able to get a friend, relative or neighbor to do it?

It is wonderful to have a friend or relative willing and able to help you while you are away, however, it is not always convenient or possible, and you will not be asked to return the favour if you use JB Security Services.  

Where do I begin?

Contact us to set up a meeting in your home prior to the start of your holiday. This initial interview is important, as it ensures that we know the services you require. We will complete the Service Agreement and do a house and yard walk through, review any pet care or animal care requirements and obtain the house key.  

Do I need to have another meeting and fill out another Service Agreement every time I leave town?

No, once the Service Agreement is on file, a quick call or email to us is all you need to book service.  

What is your key policy?

We must have a key to your home, garage etc. before you leave and will obtain a key from you at the initial meeting. Keys will be returned by mail or in person, or we can keep your key at your request to streamline future service requests. All keys will be stored in our office safe while not being used.  

What will you do if something goes wrong while I'm away?

We will have your contact numbers as well as the contact numbers of any friends or relatives you wish to designate to handle problems that may occur. If anything goes wrong we will contact you to assess the situation. If required, we will also contact and make arrangements with plumbers, cleaners or other professional services that may be needed. We will keep you informed by telephone or email and any expenditures will only be made with your written (email or fax) approval.  

What will you do if my pet becomes sick while I'm away?

We will contact you, and if necessary, contact your veterinarian for treatment. The client is responsible for any fees or expenses incurred while a pet is under vet care.  

How am I billed and when is it due?

Payment is due in full upon receiving an invoice for services provided by JB Security Services. For long term vacationers and snowbirds, monthly invoices will be provided. We currently only accept cash or personal cheques.  

How much notice do you need for a cancellation?

Cancellation can be made up to 48 hours in advance of the first scheduled service. If less than 48 hours notice is given, a cancellation fee equal to one visit will be charged.  

Do you take "last minute" reservations?

We make every effort to accommodate last minute clients, depending on the time and resources available.  

Is my personal information kept confidential?

Yes. We do not disclose any client information to third parties. Also, keys are stored in our office safe when not in use and referenced only by a numbered tag. All Service Agreements are stored in our locked office filing cabinet.
